Comic Strip: Logjam

Jeff Hawley writes and draws Logjam, the world’s only comic strip featuring sentient trees.  Why trees?  “There are already enough comics devoted to smart-alecky cats and dogs,” says Jeff.  “I get my ideas while in trances induced by eating grilled-trees sandwiches.  My pen is made from a sharpened twig, dipped in ink made from boiled walnuts.  I draw Logjam strips on the underside of tree bark which I harvest in spring.  I flatten it by pounding for several hours with a heavy rock.”  The award-winning cartoonist’s work has been exhibited at the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco, and at galleries in the Seattle area.  Jeff holds, with a white-knuckled grip of iron, a BA in American Studies, and a certificate in Graphic Design.  Besides being proud Member No. 5 in the CLAW, Jeff is also Secretary of Cartoonists Northwest.  He lives and works on Vashon Island.
