No. 006 Michael Shaudis (Ret.)
Michael Shaudis
(CLAW Member #6)
Michael has been a freelance illustrator, cartoonist, and graphic designer since that prophetic Orwellian year of 1984. No stranger to the world of controversial political cartooning, he has been a contributor and staff illustrator for several small-press publishers, most recently with alternative publisher Loompanics Unlimited of Port Townsend, Washington. His pen-and-ink illustration style is familiar to many readers, and frequently can be seen in publications of vastly differing genres. As a professional graphic designer, Michael has specialized in the field of medallic art and has been recognized with membership in the American Medallic Sculpture Association, through which his work has been seen internationally, and perhaps- even interplanetary (but that is a matter of some debate).
Recently returned to the city of Tacoma after a long absence, he pens a couple of comic strips as a member of CLAW. Thie first, “Ocryx and Joe”, is  loosely based around the events and happenings of the local area, but mostly in the way that it affects crows. His second strip, “Kyrgyz 606”, follows the crew of a Kyrgyzstanian contract air cargo carrier, which is based in part on his experiences in the former Soviet central asian republics during his service as a flight medic in Afghanistan.
